Devotees from Guiuan and other places come to Sulangan to pray to San Antonio de Padua, said to be the patron saint of lost items, travelers, the poor and the sick. Many devotees also light candles to ask for his intercession and if their prayers are heard and granted, they return to express their gratitude. Others would pray a novena devoted to San Antonio de Padua, asking for miraculous healing, recover lost things, and even to find a true lover or passing a board exam.

The road to Sulangan which is called Calicoan island is bordered by beachfront properties on both sides of the road, which is a little disconcerting, because it's like driving on a natural bridge where you fall off the end of the island after an endless drive
